Looking for a Dynaplug Alternative? INFLATA Plugs Pro vs Dynaplug Racer Pro
Plugs Pro vs Dynaplug Racer Pro: price, weight, plugs, refills and EU availability compared honestly.
Written by INFLATA. We make the Plugs Pro, so we are not neutral. That is why this comparison sticks to published specs, retail prices and an independent review, and tells you where the Dynaplug is the better pick.
Dynaplug is the name most riders think of when they think "tubeless plug". The idea is simple: a plug with a metal tip that you push into the puncture, no glue and no reaming. The INFLATA Plugs Pro works on the same principle. So if you are looking for a Dynaplug alternative, the real question is not "does it work" but "which one suits how I ride, and how easily can I get it".
Quick answer
- Choose the Dynaplug Racer Pro if every gram and millimetre counts (XC racing, minimalist road setups) or if you need a plug for large holes today.
- Choose the INFLATA Plugs Pro if you want a tool that is easier to grip and use at the roadside, costs less, and ships from stock in the Netherlands.

How they work: the same idea
Both tools use a rubber plug with a metal tip. You remove whatever caused the puncture, push the tool into the hole and pull it straight out. The tip anchors inside the tyre, the plug fills the hole and your sealant closes any tiny gaps around it. No glue, no reaming and no need to take the tyre off the rim. If you have never done it, our step-by-step guide to repairing a tubeless tyre on the road walks you through it. Want to know how brass-tip plugs compare with bacon strips and Stan's DART? Where the Dynaplug Racer Pro wins
- Smaller and lighter. At around 25 g and a slim aluminium body, it disappears in a jersey pocket or hip pack. The Plugs Pro is noticeably larger.
- Megaplug for big holes. The Racer Pro carries a larger plug for cuts that a standard plug cannot close. The Plugs Pro currently has one plug size; a larger INFLATA plug for big holes is coming soon.
- Four plugs on board instead of three.
- Long track record. Dynaplug has been making plug tools for years and is used by many riders and racers.
Where the INFLATA Plugs Pro wins
- Easier to use. The wide handle gives you grip with cold, wet or dirty hands and lets you push with more force. That is exactly what Vojo Magazine highlighted in its test.
- A depth stop. A metal stop at the base of the needle rests against the tyre, so you cannot push the plug in too far.
- Lower price. €37.95 for the tool, around €17 less than the Racer Pro at EU retail, and refills cost slightly less per plug.
- Spares inside the handle. Two extra plugs are stored in the handle behind a push-fit cap, ready for a second puncture.
What an independent test said
Vojo Magazine tested the Plugs Pro for several weeks on mountain bike and gravel rides. Its conclusion: it is not the most minimalist tubeless repair kit on the market, and racers who want the smallest possible tool may prefer something more compact. For mountain bikers and gravel riders, the reviewer found the grip and ease of use worth the extra size. Read the full Vojo test (Dutch).
EU brand or US brand: does it matter?
For the plug itself, not much. Both work the same way. Where it does matter is availability and service:
- Stock and delivery. INFLATA ships from its own stock in the Netherlands. Dynaplug tools are made in California and reach European riders through retailers, so availability depends on the shop. When we checked Bike24 on 12 October 2026, three of the four Racer Pro colours were out of stock.
- Refills. A tool is only as useful as the plugs you can get for it. Plugs Pro refills are available from the same store as the tool.
- Returns and support. When you buy from INFLATA you deal directly with the brand, in Europe, under EU consumer law, with 30 days to return your order.
- In a shop near you. INFLATA is also sold in more than 120 bike shops across Europe. Find a store near you.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use Dynaplug refills in the INFLATA Plugs Pro?
The Plugs Pro is designed for INFLATA Plugs Pro Inserts. We have not tested other brands' plugs in it, so we only recommend our own refills.
Do tubeless plugs work on road tyres?
Yes. Both tools are made for all tubeless setups, from road and gravel to MTB and e-MTB. The brass tip anchors the plug, so it holds at road pressures.
Is a plug a permanent repair?
A properly placed plug usually lasts for the rest of the tyre's life. Check the repair after your ride, and replace the tyre if the cut is large or in the sidewall.
Which is better for gravel and MTB?
In Vojo's test, the Plugs Pro's grip and depth stop made it the easier tool on muddy MTB and gravel rides. If you race XC and want the smallest kit, the Racer Pro is the more compact option.
The bottom line
If minimal size and a Megaplug matter most, the Dynaplug Racer Pro is a great tool. If you want a plug tool that is easier to handle, costs less and ships quickly within Europe, the INFLATA Plugs Pro is the Dynaplug alternative we built for exactly that.
